Transplanted from his native New Zealand to the U.S. more than 20 years ago, Peter Breakwell has cultivated a reputation as one of the West Coast’s most talented trainers of young and promising jumper prospects. Hard working and ethical, he trains A-Circuit jumpers and their owners from his Breakwell Stables, located at the prestigious Portola Valley Training
Center in Northern California.

2003:
Aachen, Germany — Olympic selection trials where New Zealand qualified for the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece

2000: Sydney, Australia — Rode as an individual for New Zealand in the 2000 Olympics

2000: Germany — Invited to compete in Munich and Hachenburg (where he placed 5th in the Grand Prix of Hachenburg)


1996:
Falsterbo, Sweden — Olympic selection trials where New Zealand qualified two individuals for the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta, USA

1988: Calgary, Canada — Won the Atco Cup at Spruce Meadows

 
   
In addition to numerous Jumper championships at all divisional levels, Peter has won several West Coast Grand Prixs over the years:
  • Cow Palace Jumper Derby (1985 and 1999)
  • Bakersfield Grand Prix
  • Grand Prix of California
  • Menlo Circus Club Grand Prix
  • Portola Valley Grand Prix (1998 and 1999)

Thanks to Peter's coaching skills, his jumper clients have won many championships in the Adult Amateur through the High Amateur Owner divisions at A-Circuit shows along the West Coast and Canada.

Peter has extensive experience and numerous sales contacts for purchasing horses overseas. He has purchased and imported many horses for his amateur clients as well as resale prospects for private owners.
